The Professional Massage Academy offers an affordable massage therapy program that combines online massage therapy curriculum with hands-on, in-person training in Minnesota.

Massage therapy courses include theory, demonstration and practical application techniques that are necessary to perform professional massage services with confidence.
The program is western-based in theory and application; however, the program does give introductory theory and applications of eastern modalities and skills.
The Professional Massage Academy uses a nationally approved Milady curriculum as the foundation of our hybrid course. Our massage instructors streamlined the curriculum, homework assignments, and quizzes/tests to make the education accessible to students online.
Theory, science, and business classes are all conducted through the online/interactive curriculum.
With the online portion of the massage therapy program, our students are able to work at their own pace and on their own schedule while also having the benefit of access to an instructor for questions, guidance, support and encouragement.
Hands-on training is supervised in-person training where our instructors provide instruction and oversight while students learn different modalities and practice their techniques.
The hands-on components of education (6 separate sessions of 5 hours each) occur in small groups of 1 to 4 students in a few training locations in Minnesota. Register your interest to talk to us about your training location preferences.
Students are allowed to sign up for hands-on training once they have completed the required hours and passed the benchmark hours and required exams. As each individual’s Hands-On Training benchmark nears (with typically 3 – 4 weeks of lead time), the student will be contacted by one of our instructors to coordinate time and location.
Additionally, externships are held at partner clinic locations across the state of Minnesota. After completing the 500-hour classroom portion, a 100-hour externship is required to complete the program.
Professional Massage Academy students choose one of the following course commitments based upon the plan that best fits their goals, scheduling needs, and life commitments. Each student’s experience with time to completion may vary.

Student-Required Massages: 45 Hours
Instructor-Led Training: 30 Hours
Externship: 100 Hours
Total: 600 Hours
